Autumn is in full swing, I don’t know where this year has gone but right now it is all about pumpkin picking, hot chocolates, crunchy leaves and cosy knitwear. Autumn has to be one of my favourite seasons. When I saw the theme for this months GlossyBox, my instant thoughts were ‘what an absolutely fantastic idea’. The Halloween theme is completely on point with a Trick or a Treat box arriving on your doorstep. I have to say before we start this box is my fave to add to my GlossyBox reviews!
Now, don’t be worried. If you receive a Trick box, you are still in for a Treat! Both of the boxes contain 4 full-size makeup heroes plus a 3 in 1 skincare saviour. The only difference is the makeup shades. So you are still getting amazing products either way. All products are completely cruelty-free and are worth £65! You can click the link below and get this box for just £8, how insane is that.
GlossyBox Reviews: October Edition
The most exciting part of my Glossybox experience is pulling open the tiny ribbon, and peeling back the tissue paper to reveal what goodies lay beneath. These subscriptions boxes are such an amazing way to try out new brands, products and even shades you may not normally pick up. With a mixture of skincare and makeup this month, I couldn’t be happier. Brands included inside this box are Sleek, Illamasqua, MUA Luxe, This Works and Luna by Luna. There is only one brand I haven’t tried before in this list but I’m a huge fan of all the others and I couldn’t wait to have a play with everything!
The first thing I pulled out of the box was a beautiful Sleek Eyeshadow Palette – ‘Oh So Special’. Twelve stunning shades a mixture of mattes and shimmers. I love that this palette has neutral tones for everyday makeup looks and deeper tones for more dramatic evening looks. The eyeshadows are well pigmented and blend together like a dream! This palette alone costs £8.99 so you really are getting a bargain if you grab yourself a GlossyBox for £8!
Next up we have a vibrant, beautiful lipstick that I would never usually pick up myself but that is the beauty of the subscriptions boxes. You get to try things out of your comfort zone! This is such a lovely shade, I only applied a small amount and added a gloss on top and it creates a beautiful fuschia lip. A super creamy lipstick so it is perfect for an easy application. This lipstick is part of the ‘Anti-Matter’ collection.
“Long lasting, colour intense lipsticks with a semi-matte cushioned finish. Half-way between matte and satin, Antimatter lipsticks glide onto lips smoothly and provide comfortable continuous wear.”
I’m always looking for lipsticks that aren’t too matte but also aren’t too satin. (I know, I’m fussy haha!) So this formula is perfect for me to get the right balance. With lots of beautiful shades to choose from in the Illamasaqua collection, I’m glad I’ve got this one – Nebula. Out of my comfort zone and something I’m really happy to have in my makeup bag for all year around! P.s this lipstick retails at £20 so another huge bargain to share with you guys. Which is one of the reasons I love doing these GlossyBox reviews!
You can never have too many highlighters and you can never have too much rose gold packaging. So that is already two yes’s from me! The Strobe and Glow highlight kit from Mua Luxe contains two highlighters a cream and a powder which create a beautiful illuminating glow to your makeup look. I like to use the strobe cream first and set that in place with the powder for a gorgeous shimmer that stays in place all day.
This Works – In Transit Camera Close-Up. Not only is this a fantastic primer, but it can also be used as a mask and a moisturiser! So that is basically a 3 in 1 product, how amazing. I have used this product before and always thought it was fantastic. It is a lovely cream to apply before makeup or before going to bed as a moisturiser. I haven’t used it as a mask yet but that is definitely next on my list. It leaves your skin feeling very hydrated and if used as a primer it locks your makeup in place very well!
Last but not least we have the Luna By Luna Cosmetics Translucent Loose Powder. I have heard really amazing things about this brand, but I have never picked any bits up before. So I was excited to see a new brand in my box for me to try. I always use loose powder to set my makeup in place so this fits perfectly into my routine already. A beautiful light-weight formula that sets my foundation and other liquid products perfectly in place. Amazingly this powder actually softens fine lines and soaks up excess oil at the same time. The perfect product to apply over your concealer using a beauty blender or a makeup brush to set that makeup in place, all day long!
