There are only two weeks left of 2018 which is kind of frightening! I feel like I blinked and missed the last six months. The years really are flying by, faster and faster. In between all of the hustle and bustle of the ending year and of course Christmas approaching. I thought it would be nice to sit back and reflect on my best makeup buys of 2018 with you lovelies.
I think 2018 was the year I finally admitted to myself that I am obsessed with makeup (some of you may be laughing, yes I only just admitted it). I’ve always loved makeup since I was a teenager but this year I sat back and realised my true passion for it. By no means do I want to become a makeup artist and I know I never really do anything extraordinary with my own makeup. But I just adore trying new products, getting excited about new product launches and everything in between.
This year has seen some truly incredible launches from the drugstore and high-end brands. So many amazing products to talk about and of course, some super hyped launches that were actually quite disappointing. Today I wanted to talk about the amazing bits of makeup I discovered this year. Some you of which I would say are now my ‘holy grail products’. The list is pretty big, so I have broken it down to my top 6 best makeup buys for 2018. Otherwise, you guys will be here until 2019 reading this haha!
The Beauty Kingdom’s Best Makeup Buys of 2018
Excuse the mess but I use her nearly every day so she gets a little dusty! I know I bang on about the ABH palettes all the time but can you blame me? When Soft Glam was released in February this year, I knew it had to be mine. After falling deeply in love with Modern Renaissance in 2017, it was inevitable that another love affair was going to occur with Soft Glam. I already have an in-depth review of both of these palettes so hopefully, that will fill you in on exactly why I love the Anastasia Beverly Hills Palettes. Soft Glam had to be featured in my best makeup buys of 2018 for sure!!
The Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand is a product I was first introduced in September. After only 3 months, it is a staple in my makeup bag. I have always had a love/hate relationship with contouring. If it goes right it looks amazing but it can SO easily go wrong! This contour wand is perfect for sculpting your cheekbones and contouring your face. The lightweight formula blends so easily without looking muddy. It has a beautiful sponge cushion application which helps to create a natural finish. You really can’t go wrong with this! If you’re struggling to find the right products for contouring, this may be your saviour like it was for me.
Sometimes I love liquid lipsticks and sometimes they are just too dry, they crack on my lips and just end up feeling super uncomfortable. That was until I tried the Huda Beauty liquid mattes. Tucked away inside my November GlossyBox was the shade ‘Girlfriend’. I was SO excited to finally try the Huda lipsticks as it was my first time and I had heard amazing reviews. This applies like a dream, has a gorgeous vanilla scent and doesn’t feel uncomfortable at all. Sometimes I will apply a glossy for a different style of lipstick and it looks SO gorgeous. 100% buying this in every shade possible!!
The Benefit Contour Pro is everything you need to create beautiful brows in minimal time! It is super easy to use and includes two different shades, a lighter and darker. Not forgetting a highlighter and definer pens too! The pens glide smoothly onto the skin, making application effortless and easy! This 4 in 1 brow product is the perfect combo to create clean, sharp shaped brows. I can’t help but think 90’s when I use this pen because of the retro click pen design, it brings back lots of memories! The Brow Contour Pro is available in five different shades.
One of the greatest creations of ALL TIME! The highlighter that I cannot and will not ever live without. The intense glow that these drops create is so unique and stunning. An incredible makeup product for the summer months but also so lovely for a subtle winter glow too. Powder highlights just don’t tick the same boxes as these drops! If you haven’t already tried them, where have you been?! Definitely one of my best makeup buys of 2018 by far!
Without a doubt, the biggest foundation launch of 2018. The Conceal and Define foundation took the drugstore by storm. Offering an insane amount of shades and an insane amount of coverage haha! One of the most affordable foundations on the market with high-end results. The quality of the product really doesn’t match this price tag. If I used this without knowing the brand or the price, I would guess it was around the £20-£30 mark. I can’t rave about this foundation without mentioning the equally amazing Conceal and Define concealer. Two of my best makeup buys this year without a doubt. I also have a full review of how incredible this foundation really is.
I would say that’s a good third of my makeup bag I have shared with you there. A really good mix of drugstore and high-end makeup. You guys know I like to shop around and have a few bits from different price ranges. This year I also launched My Makeup Bag page here at The Beauty Kingdom. It is packed full of lots more favourites from 2018! I hope you guys loved this post and thank you so much for being part of my amazing journey this year. I can’t believe there are only two more blog posts left this year! Time flies when you’re having fun! Speak to you all next week.
Lots of Love…
